5 days until Halloween!

Here in Romania we don't celebrate Halloween like other nations do and especially Americans. But I would definitely love to see what its like to dress up in a costume and go trick-or-treating! So these 5 days until Halloween I will post different things related to this subject.
First thing....its history!
-origin of the name:The word Halloween is first attested in the 16th century and represents a Scottish variant of the fuller All-Hallows-Even ("evening"), that is, the night before All Hallows Day;
-symbols: the carving of jack-o'-lanterns springs from the souling custom of carving turnips into lanterns as a way of remembering the souls held in purgatory. The turnip has traditionally been used in Ireland and Scotland at Halloween, but immigrants to North America used the native pumpkin, which are both readily available and much larger – making them easier to carve than turnips. Another specific symbol is of course costuming and going trick-or-treating. All children receive fruits and candy (as far as I know). The most desired costumes include monsters, skeletons, witches and ghosts.
I have no idea in what i would dress up, but I bet it would be fun!
